History of SAMOYA
The prefix SAMOYA was registered with the Dutch
Kennel Club in 1924 by Miss N Dickhoff, registration number 900. In 1924, 3 Samoyeds bred by Mrs.Kilburn Scott were imported from England. These were :
* Farningham Mooswa of SAMOYA (dob 1-12-1923 ,dutch reg.number:5688)
* Farningham Ikon of SAMOYA (dob 19-02-1924 ,dutch reg.no. 6066)
* Farningham Ural of SAMOYA (dob 3-7-1924,dutch reg.no 6965)
The first 2 Samoyed litters born in Holland were
registered as SAMOYA (25-5-1926 and 18-7-1926)Co-owners were Mrs. A v. Ogten-Schoehuizen en Miss Schmedding. In 1926 Miss Schmedding leaves the kennel and Miss B Kuipers takes her place. The ladies
Dickhoff,v.Ogten en Kuipers start the Dutch Samoyed Club (Nederlandse Samojeden Club) on the 13 th of august 1932.
In 1937 Miss Kuipers becomes the sole owner of the
SAMOYA prefix. After a quiet time interest for the samoyeds grew when then Queen of the Netherlands. Queen Wilhelmina breeds from her Norwegian Import Ibur Stella under the Van het Aardhuis affix.
Two bitches bred by the Queen come to live with Miss Kuipers and litters are bred form them under the SAMOYA prefix .Ill health forces her to find good homes for the 2 Sammie bitches (the Princessen) in 1967. They
find this with the Kabel family ,who end up showing them as veterans attracting a lot of attention and causing the family to be bitten by the show dog bug. They piloted SAMOYA'S Sven , son of Inka van het
Aardhuis and Ribbleby Davy to his Dutch title [Later on Sven spends his old days with the Kabel family as well]. In1969 Drs.J.P Kabel becomes a joint owner of the SAMOYA kennel. His son J.P Kabel Jr. becomes a
joint owner in 1980 after the death of Miss Kuipers.
Four Sams were imported from the UK and did very
well fro the Kennel. These were Dutch Ch Damon Samoya of Snowcryst , Dutch Ch Lealsam Hanneke, Dutch Ch Snowcryst Susette and Snowcryst Kiloo. They bred Dutch Ch Samoya's Jingles who did the kennel proud ,his
sire Ch Samoya's Hanson litter brother to Ch Samoya's Hannah. I hope to ad some photos and perhaps pedigrees very soon. Just need to find them.
In 1996 joined by the daughter who had earlier
given the kennel a boost whilst living in England by sending a bitch bred by her, out of Snowcryst Royal Dione, in whelp by a Eng Ch to her father in 1985. All 3 ( are permanent registered owners of the prefix
SAMOYA for life This makes the SAMOYA kennel the oldest still active Samoyed kennel in the world through Jane Kabel.(me) .Two SAMOYA bitches, SAMOYA's Right So and her daughter SAMOYA'S Up and
Coming owned by her are now registered with the Kennel Club. But sadly the KC wouldn't let me register the Samoya prefix here in the UK.
26 SAMOYA owned or bred samoyeds gained their Dutch title
The most recent Dutch Ch. (owned by a new breeder)
can still be traced back to Van Het Aardhuis Samoyeds and earlier imports through Ch Bertil the sire of the Aardhuis Samoyeds (Look at Kolja's page.) Check out the Snowdreamer link for the last Samoya line in
Holland
